I'm a contrarian weirdo nerd who also, incidentally, makes very fancy computer keyboards.

Here I share what I'm reading and thinking about as I endeavor to navigate the absurdities of 21st century life.

Though a productivity-obsessed workaholic who has founded and sold four tech companies, I'm ambivalent about wealth, accomplishment, and status. Patriotism, politics, and propriety gross me out. I'm a Stoic minimalist yet fascinated by lavish art, commerce, and escapism. Above all, and against all evidence, I believe in retrofuturist dreams of technological progress, radical tolerance, love without inhibition, and a hopeful future for humanity.

Join the thousands of tech nerds, oddball entrepreneurs, and world-weary sentimentalists who read my newsletters.

THE COSMOS, child, is simply a perpetual rearrangement of electrons which is constantly seething as it always has been and always will be. Our tiny globe and puny thoughts are but one momentary incident in its eternal mutation; so that the life, aims, and thoughts of mankind are of the utmost triviality and ridiculousness. We are conscious by accident, and during the unfortunate instant that we are so, it behooves us only to mitigate our pain and pass our time as agreeably as we may.
